LOUISA RICKETTS AND THOMAS CHAPPELL

Louisa Ricketts was the daughter of Edward Ricketts and Mary Knight.

She was born c.1825 in Clavering, Essex, England, UK and died 11 Oct 1899 in Brompton, South Australia.

She married (1) Thomas Chappell on 16 November 1844 in Berden, Essex, UK. He was born c.1813 and died 30 May 1893 at Narrabri West, NSW, Australia.

His parents were John Chappell and Hannah Knight.

The 1841 UK census shows Louisa age 15 as a female servant, in the household of John BEARD, grocer of Berden, Essex.

Thomas and Louisa left England and arrived NSW, Australia in May 1856 on the ship "Robert Small" with their children Sarah Ann 10, John 8, James 7 and Eliza aged 4.

The family lived their lives in the Narrabri area of NSW and for whatever reason Louisa left her husband Thomas and somehow made her way to South Australia.

On the 18 February 1882 she married John Ashworth (born c.1830) in the Baptist Church, Kapunda, South Australia.

[NOTE: At the time of Louisa's marriage to John Ashworth, her husband Thomas Chappell was still living in Narrabri, NSW]

Louisa died aged approximately 80 - to date no headstone has been located for her or her De Facto husband John Ashworth.

However, there is a headstone for her husband Thomas - see below:

Headstone of Thomas Chappell
His daughter Eliza and her husband William Henry Beavis
Also William and Eliza's son Henry James
and his wife Margaret nee Casey.

Names, dates and information are presented with the best intentions. Family history being what it is, although much time, effort and money is expended, we can never know it all!
